QUAKE DAMAGE CONFINED TO CHRISTCHURCH, SO DON'T STOP COMING TO

NEW ZEALAND

Motel Christchurch | Milano Motor Lodge, 87 Papanui Road, Merivale, Christchurch, Hosted by Jocelyn and Murray, urge people not to cancel their holidays. Canterbury still has much to offer visitors and all the main tourism attractions outside of Christchurch City are operating as usual.

Tragically Christchurch's central business district has taken a hammering and it is going to be a long time before we can welcome visitors back there, but the vast majority of our region has come through the quake undamaged and is still open for business.

Our economy is very reliant on tourism and it is important for our recovery that we continue to attract visitors here. Christchurch International Airport is still fully operational and we are hoping that people will show their support for our region by pushing ahead with their holiday plans.

Whilst visitors might wish to bypass the city for now they can explore Aoraki/Mt Cook, swim with the Dolphins in Akaroa as Akaroa is fully operational and untouched. Whale Watching in Kaikoura is an amazing experience and you can visit the wineries in North Canterbury on your way up North to relax in the hot pools in Hanmer Springs.

Christchurch is an amazing Gateway to go further afield and explore the greater South Island. Here in Christchurch we will always be the gateway to fantastic destinations, such as the adventure capital of Queenstown with their beautiful mountains and magnificent scenery and just an amazing choice of adventure activites to choose from. Then you can travel to the West Coast enjoy the beautiful scenery as you drive on up to Blenheim (the sunshine city) and on to Nelson where there are some amazing things to see and do and of course a little bit further to Picton which is a delight to visit.

So please don't turn your backs on New Zealand. Christchurch is hurting terribly, our beloved Central Christchurch is in tatters but Cantabrians as we are known, are extremely resilient and with the support of the rest of New Zealand we are banding together to rise above this tragedy. The help we have received from around the country and other parts of the world is very humbling and we are looking forward positively. We will rise up again and something beautiful will come up out of the dust and once more we will be the Garden City of New Zealand and a must on travellers wish list to visit.
